Heather & Nathan's Pre-Wedding Shoot

Those who know me well, know that the Lake District is a very special place for me, having visited the area for more than 20 years of my life. A couple who definitely share that sentiment is Heather & Nathan, having met there at Sixth Form College. The guys decided they wanted their pre-wed to feature 'High Dam' where they got engaged and I was more than happy to oblige with a little road trip up North to a place that means so much to them.
The dam involved a short, uphill (of course!) walk but there were many great photo opportunities along the way. However, as soon as we reached the top, the heavy rain started (it is January after all!) so we had to take cover underneath some big trees like damp refugees wondering if it would stop enough to continue. It didn't look good so just when we're contemplating coming back later in the day, it stopped enough so we could begin picking out parts we wanted to feature. The rain hung around a little but that made for some truly unique couple shots where the sun's glow highlighted the raindrops which, further enhanced this real gem of a location.
We then had the idea of stopping by a big tourist hotspot, Bowness-on-Windermere which, I'm sure a lot of you know, has the largest natural lake in England. After drying off in a local pub, we made full use of the jetty's, with the Langdale Pikes looming large above.
To finish, as the sun was setting, I wanted to capture something completely different to the rural stuff that we already had, so we drove to their home town of Walney which is right on the coast. Because of the season and the time of the day, we witnessed a pretty dramatic sea and as the wind picked up, the guys looked really awesome while holding onto each other for dear life! ;-)
It was a real joy spending this time with them, highlighted in the fact that we laughed a lot! I'm really  looking forward to shooting their wedding in April at St Mary's Church in Elmley Castle and Deer Park Hall.
