Kate & Ross' Wedding

I'm excited to showcase the wedding of Kate & Ross. They were married at Kate's local church in the beautiful little village of Laughton and had their reception in a marquee at the old cricket field. It certainly was a eye opener to all their london friends who made the trip up to greener pastures! This meant travelling back to where I grew up in Lincolnshire. If you managed to check out their pre-wed back in June you'll know that Kate is the big sister of my friend Tom, who, I had the pleasure of photographing last year for his wedding to Nikki. I was very excited to see what this very creative pair had planned for their own special day. For starters, in visiting the location the day before, I found Kate making her own bouquets and buttonholes from flowers that her and her family had grown in months leading up to their wedding! Pretty cool (and a bit stressful to say the least!)

After spending the morning with the bride at her parents house, I stopped off at the local pub to catch Ross with his best man and three brothers having a quick tipple before they made their way to greet their guests at the church. 'All Saints' has a very special place in Kate's heart, as having attended the local primary school in Laughton, she made regular visits for art projects and church services. When you have personal locations like these it certainly makes for a lovely atmosphere and with a two minute drive to the cricket field where the marquee had been erected, the day flowed beautifully. They did an amazing job decorating inside in what looked like days of preparation by family and friends. The details throughout were handmade and really personal, like the table plan with a paint stained easel, the heart shaped maps of London which were used for bunting and the vintage napkins which were individual to each guest.

We had a couple of locations in mind for their couple shots and having spent a bit of time with the rustic backdrop of the church we found a little bit of woodland by the cricket field. We made full use of the beautiful light coming through the trees and produced some truly beautiful couple images before joining their guests.

Finally their first dance together lasted about 30 seconds before they grabbed their parents and continued to dance with them. To me it felt like they were paying a small bit of thanks for all their parents had done and wanted to share this lovely moment with them before everyone flooded the dance floor to help them finish it.

As the sun set casting a breathtaking sky I left them partying the night away (with no curfew) while I drove back to the midlands happy that I had been asked to be part of such a special day...
